The TANCET (Tamilnadu Common Entrance Test) for MBA and MCA is usually conducted on the third/last Sunday of May for the July Admissions.

The TANCET MCA paper usually has 100 questions with 4 answer choices for each question. Every correct answer fetches one mark and every incorrect answer carries a penalty of 1/3 marks. Questions left unanswered are not evaluated. The duration of the test is for 2 hours.

The areas that are frequently tested are

Computer Awareness - Basic knowledge of computers and programming is tested. Usually around 10 - 15 questions are from this topic.

Verbal Reasoning - A short passage is followed by a question and the candidate has to analyse the short passage and give the correct answer.

Logical reasoning - Data or information is provided and the candidates have to answer the questions that follow.

Quantitative Reasoning and Data Sufficiency - The math part. Questions asked would include topics from Arithmetic, Algebra, geometry, permutation and combination, trigonometry....
