Verbal Section
The cut off in this section is likely to be 18 to 19(net score).
The Verbal Section: The RC passage in the 1-mark section was easy and had 3 direct questions. "Inappropriate usage of word" questions, 3 in number were doable. "Paragraph jumbling" had 2 questions that were doable. In the final estimate, one could expect to get 6 marks out of the 1-mark questions.
In the 2 mark section of verbal, one of the passages on "logocentrism" had some questions with close answer choices. A tough passage. Grammar questions with more than one sentence being correct will take quite some time and were therefore tough. "Complete the small passage" (4 questions) and "replace with the appropriate word" (4 questions) had some doable questions. A final estimate will be that one should be able to do about 6 to 8 questions in the 2-mark section. After budgeting for negatives, therefore, a score of 18 to 19 is likely to be the cut off in this section.
DI Section
The cut off in the DI section is likely to be around 14 marks.
Two sets in the 1-mark section (Training programs and Rice cultivation) were doable. At least 4 marks can be obtained from the 1-mark section
The 2-mark section had 3 sets which were doable (Venkat share investment, Tennis ranking and the question on 4 firms Aggressive, profitable...). There were one or two tricky questions within these 12 questions. One should be able to get at least 5 to 6 questions correct from the 12 questions in the given time. i.e., at least 10 or 12 marks in the 2-mark section. After budgeting for negatives, therefore, we estimate that the cut off in this section is likely to be 14.
Quant Section
The cut off in the Quant section is likely to be 15.
1-mark questions had at least 5 easy questions. Ram-Shyam (2 questions), chess game, pipe filling a tank, 163 + 173+....
Similarly there were at least 5 easy 2-mark questions.
(i) The right most digit before 0s in 302720...,
(ii) the number of numbers where all the digits are odd between 1000 and 1200...,
(iii) the question on number of tiles on a rectangular floor of dimension 110 * 130...
(iv) the circle question... and
(v) the log question.
Therefore, we estimate the cut off in this section to be about 15.
Overall Cutoff
A overall total of 52+ after clearing respective sectional cut-offs is likely to result in a call from one to two of the IIMs. A score of 60+ is likely to result in four or even possibly 6 calls.
