even if my very close relative or any male member of my fown amily does this kind of dangerous crime(Although they are well-respected)---in such case i'll first request the judge to give capital punishment.Because there are few specific kind of crimes for which there is no other other option except giving capital punishment.
May be for any other kind of crime we may try to give a chance to the person to get corrected.But there are there are few specific kinds of dangerous crime like (raping a child) for which there is no other option except capital punishment.Because,in modern indian rule "lifetime prisoner" doesn't stay really lifelong in the jail.It is 14 years only.
Do you think that a rapist will get enough punishment in 14 years and after 14 years jail,after returning in the society---will he be a newborn person?
I think atleast in case of child-rape,capital punishment is must.
Atleast those perverts will have fear in his mind that he may get capital punishment if he gets caught by police.So he may hesitate to do such crime.

This debate also happened in our college too.And there also i found that only male members were supporting not to give capital punishment even in case of rape.But i m sure if this kind of accidental crime happens in their own family,they can't forgive the criminal at all.
Atleast rape is such a dangerous crime for which capital punishment should be there.

Although i know that nobody crime can't be stopped by giving capital punishment,but still there is need of capital punishment for any dangerous crime like child-abuse or child-rape.
Otherwise in case of all other crimes,other punishments can be considered. But to correct a person neither jail nor capital punishment is a solution at all.Moreover if a person kills other,killing that person again won't generate a solution.Infact in our country prisons are not that much modernized or there is not the scope by staying where prisoner may get corrected.
I think first we should modernized the jails.We should employ gold medalist
mind-counsellors who will counsell on the prisoners and will help to overcome their problems.
Incase of poor,non-educated prisoners there should be arrangement like this that they will get the scope to work on "making various crafts" while staying in the jail and which will get sold by the jail-authorities in the outside and for which prisoners will earn good amount of money and they will discover new meaning of life.
Do you think that in india's prisos anybody gets the proper environment to get corrected?If he doesn't get corrected---then what's the meaning of sending him jail?So i think govt. should make the jail more modernized.
CINTHIA I m sorry to personalize things, but u said life imprisonment (14 yrs) is short n not enough. Some time try n lock ur self in a most plush n sophisticated room available only for 14 days, u ll realize how long are 14 years n how bad it is to face those condition in a prison. Life Imprisonment is even worst than capital punishment…………. I don know y r u so obsessed with rape n assault but there r bigger crime than rape……………… U mentioned dat a person don changes after imprisonment. How can u say that? Have u ever met or even seen a person who has faced life imprisonment, other than in movies…..and if for an instance I consider that no one changes, but as u said, that there is no use of a punishment if person is not corrected, is not true coz still there is one thing that punishment makes one realize that he has committed a crime n he ll have to suffer for that. So that when his punishment is over he fears to commit any such thing again. ……………Some of the changes u wan to occur in Indian jails already exists, like people do work in some prisons in fields like craft etc.

i personally believe that capital punishment should be imposed only in cases of homicide
But I am totally against capital punishment for people convicted of rape.
What has to be considered is the reason for the person to commit a crime like rape.It may be due to any reasons like- sexual abuse when he was a kid or unhappy childhood.In such a condition he may not be aware of the crime he has comitted or anything related to it.It happens during cases of scizophrenia, where a person is not aware of his behaviour.
CINTHIA do you think then its right to hang to death such a person who doesnt even know why he is being punished...I say such people need treatment and not punishment.
Ok ..and if u do believe that capital punishment is going to put the fear of god in someone consider this case.
A person who is suffering from suicidal tendencies and has no wish to live on. He suddenly feels "What the heck..anyway iam goin to die...why not rape a few girls before i go down".What can we do in such a situation...
But through a life imprisonment a person will be sorry for his crime for the rest of his miserable life..
