Hi,
As i read you want to find the rank of a word say KIN .
Although you can solve this [perticular problem without using Perm. Comb. But for words with more letters there is no respite.
Sol>
KIN
The order of alphabets is I ,K, N in dictionary.
so words tarting with I Will be 2! (as I XX )
Now words srarting with K:
Here KXX ,also i comes before N so,
using these alphabets the first letter which can be formed is
KIN.
So the rank is third.

The funda goes like this.
Eg: KIN.
Arrange them in alphabetical order. IKN.
For words starting with I, The number of combos is 2!. I--
To find the rank of KIN we need to traverse the 2 combinations completely.
For words starting with K, The number of combos is 1! K--
A case arises where we need to find the rank of IN which is 1!
The rank of KIN is 2! plus 1! which is 3. |
