Query regarding cutoffs

Hi!!
I had given my CAT in 2004 and managed to score just abt 90.34%..
however this time i plan to prepare seriously...this question is to all of you who hav got through good institutes,...Do coaching classes play a big role in enhancing the CAT score?? Cause bcoz of my job I hardly hav enough time...
Secondly and most importantly is dere any site where we can get the institute wise cutoffs of all good institutes in India for CAT 2004?

If you had taken CAT already and have managed to get 90 plus percentile, I am not sure if a coaching class is really going to help much.

However, mock cat series is a definite must. I have spoken to a couple of people who made it to the IIMs in the second or third attempt. They probably went for a coaching class once to get the basics in place and then subsequently took Mock CATs.

i m also preparing for CAT 05 . as i m a software eng and have to work 11-12 hours a day so its very diff for me to prepare but still i have faith in myself and lets see what is there in future for us .

hello janta ,
i enquired about cut offs and came to know that...
indiv.. cut offs were
maths 9-11
DI 7-9
RC 15-17
and total cut off was 53 ....
now this 53 fetched one of my friends a percentile of 99.14 ...
he is in IIMC ... well you can't boast such percentiles in IIMs...such percentiles are considered very lowly......
and a score of 38 gave percentile of 94...
he couldn't get into any of the IIMs ....sadly...
i guess this info is more than enough

go and join some good coaching inst....
thats where they teach you shortcuts ...
ok ok ... i know you can solve those quant. probs.... but you see most of us can ....but a few of can solve it with short cuts and save our very precious time.....this time can be utilized to apply another short cut to someother prob....
also as might be knowing there are 3 types of questions in CAT
hard
moderate types
easy types..

don't try to be a stud,simply leave hard types ..solve easy types...hard one's are for IIT studs ....leave it for them .....
now a good coaching inst.. shall teach you which moderate one's to do .. and which one to leave ...
maths fundas apply to DI section also ...

CAT is all about being street smart not being brilliant....
